Tessa Card

Tessa Card, a nurse at Warren General Hospital in Warren, Pennsylvania, was honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her care of a patient facing unexpected emergency gallbladder surgery. Throughout the process, she kept the patient's family informed, remained attentive and knowledgeable, and maintained a warm presence while managing multiple difficult cases. Her patient, Julie Miller, captured it in her nomination: "She was knowledgeable, she really listened, and she was so nice throughout the process. She kept my parents in the know throughout my surgery and was there when I woke up... She made a really sucky situation tolerable."
