Led the campaign to build northwest Louisiana's first Ronald McDonald House

Roy Griggs, a former McDonald's franchisee who started his career at 18 and eventually operated 14 locations across Louisiana and Texas, channeled his success into philanthropy after retirement. As Capital Campaign Chair for Ronald McDonald House Shreveport-Bossier, he secured over $9.2 million in donations in just over two years — including a $1 million personal gift from him and his wife Nelva — to help build northwest Louisiana's first Ronald McDonald House. The facility opened October 28, 2025, providing free housing for up to 20 families with critically ill children at Shreveport hospitals. He was recognized as the 2025 Northwest Louisiana Champion of Service by Volunteer Louisiana.
