Arita Bohannan

Kenner, LA

Raised over $500,000 to build Louisiana's first all-inclusive playground for kids with disabilities

Arita Bohannan, a family law attorney in Kenner, Louisiana, spearheaded the creation of Anthony's Missing Pieces Playground in Kenner's Miguez Park — named after her nephew and designed to serve children of all abilities, including those on the autism spectrum and with sensory, mental, and physical disabilities. She raised over $500,000 and navigated bureaucratic hurdles to bring Louisiana's first fully inclusive playground to life, providing a safe, welcoming space where all children can play together. She was recognized as the 2025 Greater New Orleans Area Champion of Service by Volunteer Louisiana, and continues working toward opening more inclusive parks throughout the region.
