Springfield special ed teacher named 2025 Oregon Teacher of the Year
Sally Golden has taught special education in Springfield, Oregon for over 20 years, and since joining Springfield Public Schools' Community Transition Program in 2010 she has helped more than 400 young adults with disabilities — ages 18 to 21 — achieve their educational and employment goals. The program partners with local businesses including Goodwill and Starbucks to help students find jobs in the community. Golden was named Lane County's Regional Teacher of the Year before being selected as the 2025 Oregon Teacher of the Year, receiving a $10,000 prize along with an additional $5,000 for her program. She represents Oregon educators at events across the state throughout the year.
