Fargo narcotics K9 inducted into North Dakota's Animal Hall of Fame after years of dedicated service

K9 Uno served with the Fargo Police Department for about seven and a half years under handler Sergeant Brad Cernik, specializing in narcotics detection and contributing to numerous successful operations across the Fargo metro area. In August 2025, the North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association awarded Uno its Working Award at the annual Pet of the Year ceremony in Medora, inducting him into the state's Animal Hall of Fame — an honor recognizing animals specially trained to serve in law enforcement, military, or medical roles. Cernik recalled that on one of Uno's very first assignments, the dog immediately alerted on a vehicle and led officers to a significant discovery. After roughly seven and a half years of service, Uno was approaching retirement.
