Miami-Dade narcotics K9 killed in the line of duty, honored at National Police Week in Washington, D.C.

K9 Roxi, an 8-year-old yellow Labrador who served with the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit since 2017, died in late January 2025 after a suspect intentionally rammed his car into Roxi's K9 unit vehicle during an arrest attempt, forcing the SUV into a concrete wall. Her handler, Deputy Jared Hahn, was injured in the crash and later traveled to Washington, D.C., to speak on her behalf. In May 2026, Roxi was among 23 fallen K9 heroes formally honored by the National Police Dog Foundation at a ceremony at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial during National Police Week, where Hahn shared the story of a partner who, in his words, "gave it all every single day for almost eight years."
