Huntsville firefighter earns Medal of Valor for zero-visibility bedroom rescue

On October 15, 2025, Firefighter Tristan Stuckey of Huntsville Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire with confirmed entrapment at a Huntsville home. Entering a smoke-filled bedroom under zero visibility, Stuckey located the victim and removed him to the window, where Captains Blake Lawson and Nathan Reed assisted with removal. The victim was found pulseless and CPR was initiated on scene. For his courage and decisive action in life-threatening conditions, Stuckey was awarded the Medal of Valor at the department's annual Awards and Promotions Ceremony in February 2026, where Chief Howard McFarlen honored 39 firefighters for heroic rescues.
