Corpus Christi husband kept his pregnant wife and unborn daughter alive with CPR
On February 16, 2026, Ernest Flores's 34-week-pregnant wife Mikayla went into cardiac arrest at their Corpus Christi, Texas home. Ernest called 911 and, guided step-by-step by dispatcher Linda Campbell, performed CPR for five minutes until paramedics arrived. Mikayla required defibrillation three more times during transport, and their newborn daughter also needed emergency care — but both ultimately recovered. On June 4, 2026, during CPR and AED Awareness Week, the American Heart Association honored Ernest and dispatcher Campbell with its Heartsaver Hero Award, recognizing a rescue that saved two lives at once.
